What's the Process of Breast Reduction in Turkey

Breast reduction is a straightforward, commonly performed cosmetic surgery to remove extra fat, tissue and skin from the breasts to give an improved shape or size. It may be performed on both men and women.

The process which starts with an incision around the areola going down to the bottom of the breast. Once the excess amount is removed, this is where the repositioning of the areola and nipple will begin, and afterward, the surgeon will stitch the area carefully, in order to leave minimal scarring.

Breast Reduction surgery usually takes between 2 to 3 hours under general anesthesia, and you’ll need an overnight stay of up to 2 nights at the surgery or hospital.

Breast surgery typically involves the following steps:

1. The position of the nipple is moved to a new one, while it is still attached to the body and its blood supply
2. Any excess fat in the breasts is extracted, including any glandular tissue and extra skin
3. The breast is reshaped with the remaining fat and tissue according to the planned design

Expect to find dressings or bandages on your breasts when you wake from the operation: these will help keep things in place. Sometimes plastic tubes are inserted to drain any excess blood. These are usually removed after 2 days when you are ready to go home.

It takes about 4 to 6 weeks to see a reduction in swelling after breast surgery. We recommend our clients to take at least 3 weeks off work to give everything time to settle.

It will take between 1 and 3 weeks before you feel able to resume your normal activities. You shouldn’t drive until the seatbelt no longer feels painful to wear.

No strenuous exercise for at least 6 weeks, including lifting heavy objects.

Patients will be prescribed pain killers for the next few days after surgery. Your breasts will feel lumpy and tender after the surgery, which is normal.

Will Breast Reduction leave scars?

You should expect tiny scars around the nipple areas and in some cases a scar running down from your nipples to the base of your breast, vertically.

After the first 6 weeks, these scars should subside and fade over time. It is imperative not to wear any tight clothes until then. The scars are precisely placed so that when you do wear clothing such as a bra or bikini, it gets hidden and will not be obviously visible.

Can Breasts Enlarge after a Reduction Surgery?

Most patients who had breast reduction surgery are concerned whether the breast tissue, skin, and fat that was removed during the procedure will eventually grow back and cause breast enlargement. However, this isn’t physiologically possible.
